"Billabong Gum Tree"
16" x 20"
Oil on Canvas
It was a stinking hot day ... the mercury was nudging 40 degrees and climbing. I was already seven hours into the first day of my road trip in central Queensland.
Out of the corner of my eye I caught the sign pointing off the road and into the national park. The sign said "Billabong This Way". First sign I had ever seen for a Billabong so on a whim I turned off the main road and followed the sign.
An hour later down four wheel drive tracks that had been destroyed in the last big wet I came into a clearing.
Sure enough there was a Billabong right there in the distance ... but it was this old gum tree that caught my eye.
Just had to paint it so here it is :)
Note - This painting is unframed but it is ready to hang. The edges are not painted.
